PSSDC @30: Sanwo-Olu hails Lagos development institute for producing world class public servants

Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Friday commended the management of the Public Service Staff Development Centre, PSSDC, for  churning out world class civil servants through training and developmental curriculum.

 

The governor spoke at the 30th anniversary celebration of the centre held at Magodo, Lagos.

 

PSSDC is a Lagos State owned training institute under the Ministry of Establishment, Training and Pension and was established in 1994 to train the state’s  civil servants.

 

While speaking at the ceremony, Governor Sanwo-Olu said while he was serving as the Commissioner for Establishment Training and Pension, there were attempts by some residents of the area to take over the land on which the centre was built but the government stood its ground and ensured the land was used for its purpose.

 

He added that the centre have been consistent and persevered in developing public servants in the state.

 

“I am impressed with the serenity and ambience of this place. The centre has developed programs and curriculum vital for public service. It is an institute we can be proud of as a learning base. PSSDC has a bright future that will  make it the best institute. PSSDC has survived and will survive well,”Sanwo-Olu said.

 

He promised that his administration will continue to ensure public servants are trained and developed. He also urged civil servants not to stop learning.

 

“Learning and development is what we will continue to do. We should not stop learning. I thank the management of PSSDC , the future is bright for you,” he added.

 

The Director-General,PSSDC, Adekunmilola Moses said a lot of developments have taken place at the centre in the last 30-years such as. virtual learning centre, building of nine classrooms for Computer Based Test, CBT, digitalisation of its processes, building of a football pitch, basketball, handball and badminton courts while there are plans to build a swimming pool by 2025.

 

He said training at the centre is not only for Lagos State staff but also for private sectors.

 

The DG commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for supporting the centre from his time as Commissioner for Establishment Training and Pension and also now as governor.

 

“The governor has been playing the supporting role not since he was. Commissioner and he has not looked back since then. He has set our foot on the right path to become a world class centre like the ones we have in Singapore and other countries and we are benefitting from it. PSSDC is the hope for public servants and Lagos State,” he said.
