Governor Muhammad Badaru of Jigawa State, on Saturday, called on the electorate in the state to vote peacefully in the Presidential and National Assembly elections.
Badaru made this call after casting his votes at Arewa Primary School polling unit at 10:15 a.m. in Babura.
He urged the electorate to behave in an orderly manner throughout the exercise, so as to ensure, free, fair and credible elections in the state and Nigeria in general.
Badaru also lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for early commencement of the elections.

”We call on the electorate to vote peacefully and conduct themselves well throughout the election period.
”We are happy with the early commencement of the exercise by the INEC personnel.
”We are also impressed by the turnout of voters, even though, you cannot measure that now because people vote and go,” Badaru said.
A NAN correspondent, who visited some of the polling units in the area, reports that voters turned out massively for the elections.
Some of the polling units were Babura Gabas, Arewa primary school and Rijiyar Mangwaro.
NAN also reports that in most of the polling units around the area, INEC officials and election materials were seen between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m.
However, accreditation and voting began in all the visited polling units between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m.
Also, adequate security was provided in each of the polling units, and voters queued up in an orderly manner.
As at the time of filing in this report, voters were still coming to the polling units to exercise their civic duty. (NAN)
