Police volleyball team eyes league title

By Ifeanyi Eduzor

Coach of Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Volleyball team, Taiwo Oladipupo says that the target of the team this season is to emerge winners of 2019 Volleyball Premier League.

The Police team last year finished the league on the third position, but Oladipupo believes that the efforts being put in place coupled with the quality of newly recruited players will help the team improve on their last year’s performance and probably win the league title.

“We don’t want to play the second fiddle again. Last year we prepared very hard for the league title but unfortunately we lost some important matches which made us drop points and settled for the third position.

“Right now, we’ve corrected our mistakes and have a complete team of players who are all officers of the Nigerian Police Force and with the caliber of players we have recruited coupled with our training , nothing less than the title will be good enough,” Oladipupo said.

The coach also expressed confidence that the new Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu and the chairman of Police Volleyball Club will give them the expected moral and financial support needed to succeed.

“I have no doubt in my mind that the new Inspector General of Police will give us all the necessary financial backing to succeed. He is a lover of sports and has been supporting all the Police sports teams before his elevation to the exalted position of Inspector General and am confident he will continue to inspire us financially”, he concluded.
