Police, vigilante kill suspected bandits, recover AK47, 97 bullets

The Katsina State Police Command and vigilance group have  killed two suspected bandits and recovered  two AK-47 rifles, 97 bullets, five AK-47 rifle magazines, among others, from them.

Some other suspects fled with gunshot injuries sustained during the ensuing gun battle with the security operatives.

The state’s police command disclosed this, on Thursday, in a statement via the Twitter handle of its Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah.

The bandits had reportedly invaded a village in the Batsari Local Government Area of the state, leading to a distress call to the police.

Consequently, the DPO of the Batsari Police Station mobilised his men and vigilante group to the area to confront the bandits.

On sighting the policemen and vigilante group, the bandits engaged them in a gun duel, which was successfully repelled but killed two of the bandits in the process while others were said to have fled with gunshot injuries.

The security operatives also recovered two AK-47 rifles, five AK-47 rifles magazines, 97 bullets, some charms, among others.

Meanwhile, the police have launched a manhunt for the fleeing suspects.
