Four prospective members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), abducted by unknown gunmen along Funtua-Gusau Road, Katsina State, were, on Wednesday, rescued by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force.
The victims, Oladehin Paul, Ojo Temitope, Ojewale Elizabeth and Adenigbuyan Adegboyega, were on their way to their NYSC Orientation Camp, in Gusau, Zamfara State, when the gunmen abducted them around 11:00p.m., on Monday, March 9.
The abductors were said to have contacted the families of their victims, demanding for N10 million as ransom.
Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, who confirmed the rescue of the corps members, on Wednesday, did not indicate if the ransom was paid to secure the release of the victims.
Although the statement by DCP Mba did not confirm if any arrest was made, two rifles were said to have been recovered during the rescue operation.
The Force spokesman also stated that the corps members had been handed over to the Zamfara State Director of the NYSC.

The statement on the rescue, signed by DCP Mba says: “Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force on March 11, 2020, rescued four NYSC Corps Members who were kidnapped on March 9, 2020, along Funtua-Gusau Road on their way to NYSC Orientation Camp, Gusau in Zamfara State.
“The successful rescue operation came as a result of diligent and intense intelligence gathering and sustained coordinated operations.
“ The corps members: Oladehin Paul, Ojo Temitope, Ojewale Elizabeth and Adenigbuyan Adegboyega have since been handed over to the Zamfara State Director of the National Youth Service Corps, while Mohammed Ardo, a co-traveller from Gusau who was also kidnapped along with the corps members has also been rescued and successfully reunited with his family.
“The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu, while commending the Commissioner of Police in charge of Katsina State Command, CP Sanusi Buba, his operatives as well as good citizens of the state who supported the police operations, assures Nigerians of the unrelenting determination of the Force to rid the nation of all forms of crime and criminality. ”
