Operatives if the Osun State Police Command have successfully rescued a kidnap victim after killing two of the kidnappers in Iwo area of the state.
Some gunmen suspected to be Fulani, On Tuesday, stormed a farm settlement in Agbese village, near Idi-Araba via Iwo and kidnapped one Alhaji Adamu, also a Fulani.
It was gathered that the kidnappers, numbering about 11, wielded dangerous weapons and shot sporadically into the air, scaring the people away, as they escaped with their victim into nearby bushes.
According to SP Yemisi Opalola, spokesperson of the state police command, who confirmed the incident, on getting the report, a police search and rescue team, went in pursuit of the criminals with the support of local hunters.

She added that when the kidnappers sighted the search party, they opened fire on the rescue team, leading to a gun duel.
She said: “The villagers raised alarm, and the police were swiftly informed, which lead to the deployment of the rescue team in conjunction with the local hunters, who quickly combed the bushes and sighted the abductors and their captive.
“Therein, cross-exchange of fire began where two of the abductors were neutralized while others escaped with gunshots injury. However, the victim was rescued and taken to a hospital in Iwo town. The remains of the fallen abductors had been taken to the Police station in Iwo.”
