Police neutralise four suspected kidnappers Delta shootout

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have killed four kidnap suspects, following a gun duel in Delta State.

The Police also reportedly recovered one (1) AK 47 rifle, two (2) magazines, two pumpaction guns, twenty-eight (28) rounds of AK 47 live ammunition, thirty-one (31) rounds of live cartridges from the suspects, who died while being treated of their fatal wounds in the hospital.

The suspects, it was gathered, were nabbed by the Special Anti-kidnapping and Cyber-Crime Squad in collaboration with operatives of Intelligence Response Unit Force Headquarters.

The hoodlums had planned to kidnap one Mrs. Obiagheli Eze-Nwane, the PDP woman leader and wife of Obi Agadagidi ‘1’ of Umunede Kingdom, and one oil and gas businessman, identified as Fubu, but were intercepted by the troops around Agbor area of the state.

The Delta State Police Command boss, CP Ari Muhammed Ali disclosed this at a press briefing at Asaba.

“The gang engaged the teams in a heavy gun duel and in the process the gang were overpowered by the combined team,” he said.

“Four of the suspected members of the gang sustained serious gunshot injuries while others escaped into the surrounding bush with traces of blood.

“The injured suspects were taken to the hospital where they gave up the ghost while receiving treatment.

“Investigation later revealed that three among the suspects were on death roll who escaped from Oko Maximum prison in Edo State during the ‘END SARS’ Jailbreak.”

Ali added that investigation into the matter is still ongoing.
