The Rivers State Police Command has commenced investigation to arrest the killer of a young lady, identified as Maureen Ewuru, in a popular hotel, in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
The victim, Maureen, who hails from, Abia State, was discovered, on Thursday, in the hotel room already strangled to death.
The Nigerian Xpress gathered that Maureen had checked into the hotel room, on Wednesday night, with a yet-to-be identified lover.
It was also learnt that the male lover, who checked into the hotel with the victim, had sneaked out and escaped from the hotel abandoning the remains of the lady in the room with a rope on her neck.
Confirming the incident which created panic around the area of incident in D/Line axis of Port Harcourt, spokesman of the Rivers State Police Command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni, said the remains of middle-aged victim had been recovered by the police.

Omoni noted that preliminary investigations conducted on the lady indicated that she was strangled by the man who took her to the hotel.
Omoni also said the man killed the lady after having sex with her, adding that the police has already recovered a very sensitive item which the man forgot while escaping the scene of the crime.
He said, “We are aware of the incident. We have visited the hotel and recovered the body of the victim.
“Preliminary investigations show that the boy friend of the girl strangulated her after having sex with her, locked the door and ran away.
“We have also recovered a very sensitive item which the fleeing boy friend forgot. It will be very easy to track him down.”
