Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have shot dead a suspected mentally ill man who beheaded an octogenarian in Ipara town, Remo-North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
David Shodola, a 32-year-old man had allegedly beheaded an 84-year-old man, identified as Alfred Opadipe, but was killed by the police when allegedly resisted arrest.

A gory viral short video of the incident showed horrified residents watching the lifeless body of the aged man on the ground while his head was lying a few meters away.
Omotola Odutola, the state Police spokesman in a brief statement in Abeokuta confirmed the incident, adding that the police received a distress call, prompting the deployment of officers from the Isara Division, led by CSP Bankole Eluyeru, to the scene.
However, it was gathered that when the police attempted to arrest the suspect, he attacked them with a machete, injuring the DPO and his team, resulting in his being shot dead murder weapon recovered from him.
The Police also disclosed that the suspect did not have any previous record of madness.
