Men of the River State Police Command have killed six suspected kidnappers, and injured two of them in a gun duel.
This was disclosed by Commissioner of Police Usman Belele, during a media session, in Port Harcourt.
The police boss said the kidnappers were taken unawares when his men stormed their hideout at Eneka, in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of the state.
According to him, when the suspects sighted the police, they opened fire on them (policemen) and in the process, two of his men were wounded. But upon retaliation, five members of the gang were fatally wounded.
They were rushed to University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UTPH) where they were confirmed dead.
CP Belele noted that the sixth victim was a notorious kidnapper on wanted list of the Police, known as Ntuariuwa, a.k.a. “Change the World”.
