Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have intercepted two vehicles with 1,200kg of substance suspected to be marijuana and other hard drugs around Itowolo area of Ikorodu part in the state.
It was gathered that two occupants of the vehicles, a Toyota Corolla with Registration Number LAGOS APP 903FR and a Peugeot 307 with Registration Number ABUJA CB 686 ABJ, were parading themselves as soldiers.
The suspects, Okoliko Andrew and Idowu Adebayo, were stopped by policemen for plying the Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) corridor around Itowolo, an offense which contravenes the state’s traffic laws.
Upon interrogation, it was discovered that the suspects were impostors. A search was conducted on the vehicles and the outlawed substances were discovered.
Further investigation revealed that the suspects, both residents of No. 1, Pedro Compound, Charley Boy, Lagos State, were to deliver the bags of marijuana to someone at Sura market on Lagos Island, at a delivery fee of N50,000.
Confirming the arrest of the suspects, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Elkana Bala said: “ The suspects are in our custody, the vehicle and exhibits are also recovered. We have commenced investigation into the case.
“Not sure whether they are impersonators, fake or dismissed soldiers as reported but investigation will reveal please. ”
