Oyeyemi, in a statement, described the report of the abduction of 20 people as fake news.
“In order to dispel the wicked rumour which is capable of causing panic in the mind of the public, the command wishes to inform the public that the said news is nothing but fake and a lie from the pit of hell,” he said.
“There is nothing like kidnapping of one, talkless of 20 persons at the Kara bridge or anywhere along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
“Those behind the fake news are mere mischief makers, who always derive joy from causing unnecessary panic in the mind of innocent members of the public.”
Oyeyemi also disclosed that the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, had directed that a 24-hour surveillance patrol be effected to forestall attacks by miscreants who might want to capitalise on the gridlock due to the ongoing road construction in the area to cause mischief.
There had been reports that bandits had abducted 20 at the Kara area, bordering Lagos and Ogun states.
