Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have busted a den of drug dealers in the Mayas area of Lafenwa, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The operatives recovered over N2 million cash and hard drugs worth over N10 millions from the hideout.
According to the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, who confirmed the incident, the suspects escaped because police operatives did not want to engage them in order not to endanger the lives of an innocent civilian.
The CP said the police acted on a tip-off, adding that apart from the N2,722,750 cash, 110 parcels of Indian hemp, 50 packs of codeine and 12 packs of phenol, among other kinds of hard drugs, cutlasses, axes and dangerous charms were also recovered from the scene.
However, Ajogun assured that efforts had been intensified to arrest the fleeing drug dealers.
