Detectives from the Meiran Police Division, Lagos State Police Command, has arrested two suspected ritualists, Lekan Ganiyu, 35, and Ifatunmise Adedeji, 35, for attempting to use a 14-year-old girl (name withheld), for money ritual.
It was gathered that the survivor had absconded from home and was roaming the streets of Abule-Egba, when the suspects met her and offered to assist her.
The suspects allegedly abducted the girl, and took her to Omi Ata, Ekoro, where they sexually molested for days, before taking her to a native doctor for money ritual.
It was learnt that the native doctor gave the survivor a concoction to drink and she became unconscious.
However, the guardian of the survivor had reported the case of a missing person at Meiran Division.
Information gathered during investigation led detectives to the native doctor’s shrine, where the missing girl was lying helplessly, and concoctions perceived to be requirements for the ritual recovered.
A police source, who choose to be anonymous said the rescued girl was rushed to Agege General Hospital, where she was treated, regained consciousness and narrated all that happened.
The source stated that Ganiyu and Adedeji were arrested and they confessed to the crime. He also said that the case was transferred to the Gender Section of the Police Command in Ikeja for further investigation.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Olumuyiwa Adejobi, also confirmed the arrest of the suspect.
