Two suspects who had snatched a Toyota Corolla from an Uber driver around Orchid Hotel by Second Toll-Gate in Lekki have been arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Oshodi-Tapa, Lagos Island base.
The suspects, Zino Ude and Anumelechi Chris had planted their accomplice a woman who is still at large to board the Uber from Oniru to the hotel at 11:30am on January 19, 2019.
While on their way, the woman had stopped the driver to collect money from her boyfriend, when suddenly the two suspects came from their hideout and snatched the vehicle with Registration No. KRD-827-EY.
The suspects who were paraded by the Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Imohimi Edgal at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja said upon the report of the matter the operatives swung into action arresting the suspects.

Giving details on how the suspects were arrested, CP Edgal said a cut-to-size double-barrel gun with two live cartridges was recovered from the suspects.
“On their way to the said Hotel, the woman asked the Uber Driver to pull over, to enable her collect money from her boyfriend. The driver obliged her request and pulled over.
“ In the process, three armed men emerged and robbed the driver of his Toyota Corolla car, his two phones and a cash sum of N20,000. Thereafter, they zoomed off with the woman.
“ On receipt of the report, operatives of SARS, Oshodi-Tapa, Lagos Island base, swung into action and visited the scene of incident, where they picked objects of evidential value for analysis.
“The result of the inquiry led to the arrest of two suspects involved in the crime.A cut to size double barrel gun with two live cartridges wet recovered from the suspects,” the police boss said.
Edgal said during interrogation, they confessed to the crime and aided operatives to recover the stolen car. They equally confessed to series of car snatching operations in Lagos and other contiguous States.
The suspects had also led the operatives to recover one Honda Saloon Car with Reg. No. GGE-954-BQ which they snatched in Delta State.
The state Police Boss said investigation is ongoing with a view to arresting fleeing members of the gang for prosecution.
