Police arrest, prosecute teenager for stealing phone inside mosque

 

A 19-year-old man, suspect was on Friday arranged before an Ona-Ara Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for allegedly stealing a cell phone inside a mosque.

 

The suspect, who was identified as Karim Sodiq, is facing charges for house breaking stealing a phone.

However, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Insp Adeshina Folaranmi, who is the prosecutor, disclosed that the Sodiq committed the offences on May 21, at about 7.50 p.m. at Oju-Aba Mosque, Moniya area of Ibadan.

He alleged that the defendant broke into the mosque and stole an Infinix smart 6 phone, worth N100,000, belonging to one Akorede Suliyat, an offence in contravention of Sections 415 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

 

Mr Ayorinde Ayo-Alagbe, the Magistrate, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000, with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the matter till August 15.
