Police arrest fraudsters in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two members of a syndicate who specialised in duping unsuspecting members of the public under the guise of multiplying dollar.

Chicka Kasarachi and Ifeanyi Okechuckwu, the suspects, were arrested following a complaint by Omeh Ishoke, at Sango Police Station, saying he was defrauded of N148,000.

Ishoke revealed that he was accosted by the suspects, who lured him to their hideout at Koleosho street, Anisere in Sango Ota, where they collected the said sum with a promise to convert same to millions of dollars.

He stated further that the suspects also collected his MP3 mini speaker valued at N68,000 but no dollar was given to him at the end.

 The Ogun Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who spoke on the arrest of the suspects said that upon the report at the police division, the Divisional Police Officer, Godwin Idehai, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), quickly led his men to the hideout where the two suspects were apprehended.

“On interrogation, they confessed been fraudsters who have duped many unsuspecting people using the same method. Recovered from them are unidentified liquid substance, several fake American dollars and assorted charms.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Ajogun, has ordered a massive manhunt for other members of the syndicate on the run.

“He also directed that the past activities of the suspects should be properly investigated with the view to bring their nefarious activities to an end.

“The Police boss, therefore, warned members of the public to beware of those who are out to swindle them, ”  Oyeyemi said.
