No fewer than 13 alleged traffic robbers have been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command.
The state Commissioner of Police (CP), Hakeem Odumosu, who made the disclosure on Thursday, while addressing officers and men of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and other operational units of the command, said the arrests followed the deployment of operatives to strategic areas across the state.
Declaring the readiness of the Command to eradicated the menace of traffic robbery and other violent crimes in the state, Odumosu reiterated that criminal elements will not be allowed to jeopardise the security network of the state.
Similarly, the Commander RRS, Yinka Egbeyemi, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), stated that the suspects were arrested lurking around Motorways, Old Toll-Gate and Olusosun Dump site, Ojota, Lagos State.

He identified the suspects as: “ Akeredola Taiwo, 33, Oriyomi Solola, 28, Olanrewaju Sikiru, 25, Hakeem Ridwan, 22, Joseph Ovie, 33, Muhammadu Aminu, 32, Monday Nweke, 35, Emmanuel Anthony, 24, Onyeka Muoghara, 40, Salaudeen Rilwan, 32, Kayode Dele, 31, Silas Manner, 27, and Favour Elijah, 26.
“Some of the suspects were caught red-handed while taking drugs in their hideouts around the corridor; and they were actually fingered and recognised by the residents and eye witnesses to have been involved in some of the previous traffic robberies and other crimes being perpetrated in the areas.”
The Commissioner of Police also ordered that the suspects be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for proper investigation and possible prosecution.
He further assured the general public of the command’s relentless efforts in providing adequate security for all and sundry in Lagos State.
