Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 presidential election, Mr. Peter Obi, has mourned the passing of a former Governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande.
Alhaji Jakande died on Thursday at the age of 91.
In a statement, Mr. Obi said that “Jakande would be remembered as one of the best among his peers, whose investment in critical areas, especially education would remain inspirational.”

Describing his death as a ‘painful’ loss, not just to Lagos State, but to the entire country, Mr. Obi said that “the homage we owe people like him is the continued striving to build the country they dreamt of but could not achieve through what he was known for: service clothed with humility, honesty and integrity.”
