Leaders in all community areas across Ogun State have been advised on the need to be united in order to improve their communities as well as the state at large.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Community Development and Cooperatives, Mrs. Melutia Ogunremi, gave this advice at the closing ceremony of a 4-day Citizenship and Leadership Training Course, organised by the Ministry for Community Leaders across the state, held at The Social Development Institute (Shasha), Iperu, Ogun State.
Ogunremi emphasised on the need for the participants to shun any form of rivalry which could bring violence and discord among themselves and embrace unity, stressing that it was the only way by which development could be achieved in any given society.
Ogunremi, through her Media Aide, Mr. Segun Oniyide, affirmed that government is working progressively at ensuring more provision of social and infrastructural development which could make life more meaningful for the citizenry.

In his remarks,The Director of Community Development, Alhaji Mojeed Sorinola disclosed that a total number of four hundred and twenty one participants who participated in the programme represented different community areas across the state.
Sorinola urged them to explore the knowledge and skills acquired at the programme to improve their respective society, noting that it was the only way they could contribute their quota.
He noted that traditional leaders, as well as community council are two major institutions which cannot be undermined in the development of any society.
He urged the two institutions to ensure synergy so as to maintain their good leadership position in the society.
One of the participants, Mr kayode Salako described the programme as one which would enhance effective coordination and management in various community development areas in the state.
He stated that State was noted for peace and excellence in which others emulate, advised the citizens to cooperate with the government for sustainable development and to achieve communities’ desired goal.
