The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers in the House of Representatives have debunked media reports that the minority caucus had met over the crisis rocking the party.
The minority caucus made the rebuttal in a statement on Monday and signed by the Minority Leader, Ndudi Elumelu.
Elumelu said the lawmakers’ attention had been drawn to the media reports about a purported online meeting by the minority caucus regarding the current leadership challenge within the party.
According to the lawmaker, “if such a meeting was held, it was without the knowledge of the leadership of the Minority Caucus, and therefore in breach of established procedure.”
He stated that the PDP reps members were “working in concert with organs of the party to ensure sustainable resolution of the current challenges that will be in the overall interest of the party and Nigerians.”
Elumelu appealed for caution and patience from all party members, particularly PDP members in the House of Representatives, as the leadership crisis was being resolved.
