PDP appoints Yayari Ahmed Mohammed new Acting National Chairman

 

Following unresolved internal crises and the recent suspension of its national chairman, Ambassador Iliya Damagum and Secretary, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed Alhaji Yayari Ahmed Mohammed as its Acting National Chairman.

According to the press release by the party, the decision to replace the former chairman aligns with the party’s constitution.

The release, which was signed by Debo Ologunagba, national publicity secretary of the party said the National Working Committee (NWC), has urged all members to remain focused as preparations for the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on October 24, 2024 is in progress.

The meeting, it said, is critical for addressing ongoing internal conflicts and strategizing for future elections amidst a backdrop of significant party challenges.

The press release said: “Following the suspension of His Excellency, Amb. Illiya Damagum as the Acting National Chairman of our great Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the National Working Committee (NWC) has approved the appointment of Alhaji Yayari Ahmed Mohammed as the Acting National Chairman.

The appointment which takes immediate effect is pursuant to the provisions of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017).

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed Alhaji Yayari Ahmed Mohammed as its Acting National Chairman, following the suspension of Amb. Illiya Damagum.

This decision, effective immediately, aligns with the party’s constitution, according to a press release, today, signed by Hon. Debo Ologunagba, national publicity secretary of the party.

The National Working Committee (NWC), the press statement noted, urged all members to remain focused as preparations for the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on October 24, 2024, commence.

This meeting, it also added, is critical for addressing ongoing internal conflicts and strategizing for future elections.
