Three children aged 11, 9 and 2 along with their parents have been found dead in their home at Utah, United States on Tuesday.
Another adult member of the family, a 17-year-old was also found with a gunshot wound and has been hospitalized.
While the 11-year-old was a boy, the other two victims aged nine and two were girls.
According to the spokesperson for the West Valley City Police Department, Roxeanne Vainuku, their bodies were found in their house in West Valley City which is nine miles southwest of Salt Lake City while the 17-year old was found in the house garage.
Roxanne described their deaths as ‘horrific’ which ‘ will weigh heavily on investigators.’
While police are yet to ascertain circumstances surrounding their deaths, investigators said no one has been suspected yet.
Investigation has also become complicated as the police are finding it difficult to get more information concerning the incident from the injured 17-year-old who is still receiving treatment in the hospital.
Their death became known to the police after a relative of the woman unsuccessfully tried to reach her for several days and alerted the police who later went to the house.
However, on reaching the house, the police received no response after calling out the couple and went back.
On Tuesday afternoon, the police went back to the house after the relative who had earlier reported to them found the injured 17-year-old in the garage and informed the police.
Efforts are currently ongoing to find evidence that could help the police in their investigation.
