The political tension in Rivers State nosedived further on Monday as fresh explosions and protests hit some local government areas of the state.
Following the order by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun for the unsealing of the 23 local government Secretariat’s in the state and the immediate withdrawal of policemen who had occupied the council since July, opponents of the new development protested.
The secretariat of the Eleme LGA in the state has been torched in the process.
Similarly, buildings and vehicles were set ablaze following an explosion from a device suspected to be dynamite.
