No fewer than 45 farmers were feared killed in separate attacks in Lafia, Obi and Awe local Government Areas of Nasarawa State.
The crisis began when a herder was reportedly killed by unknown persons, prompting reprisals in more than 12 communities across the three local government areas of the state, resulting in more deaths.
The affected communities have been deserted, as the people fled to take refuge in other communities. Many residents were also injured in the fracas and now being treated in different hospitals in the local council areas.

Meanwhile, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has condemned the act and described the killings as senseless and barbaric.
Urging the people to live in peace, the governor charged security operatives to fish out the perpetrators of the act and vowed that none would be spared.
In a related development, security operatives have discovered more bodies, following the attack on some villages in the area. Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
Kauran Fawa, Marke and Riheya villages in Idasu in Giwa Local Government Area of the state were on Sunday attacked by bandits, claiming 38 lives.
However, two more bodies had been discovered, bringing the number of the dead to 40 persons.
