Over 1000 christian leaders endorse PDP candidate
......says Bayelsa government house not for Olumba Olumba , rejects gubernatorial candidate
Over 1000 Christians leaders in Bayelsa State have endorsed the Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Douye Diri, for the governorship of the state in November, 2019.
The clergy said that the Dickson led Administration in Bayelsa was established on the deep foundation of the love for God and was devoid of occult practices which are rampant in other climes.
The clergy said that Bayelsa which is host to one of the most glorious places of worship, the Ecumenical Centre, would not accept a ticket whose core players are leaders of the Olumba Olumba Sect.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Fidelis Soriwei, states that the clergy’s comment was made during the presentation of the Candidate of the PDP to the Christian Community by the State Governor, the Honorable Henry Seriake Dickson, indeed the leadership òf the party on Yenagoa.

The Governor said that the PDP flag bearer Senator Douye Diri was selfless gentleman with a rich history of devotion to public service and passion for societal development having served the Ijaw Nation as the Pioneer Organising Secretary and Bayelsa state in various capacities meritoriously.
He further explained that the PDP primary which produced Senator Diri as flag-bearer was peaceful, fair and credible and was televised live stressing that the PDP ticket was in need prayers to remain focus and continue with the existing tradition where the state was administered with the fear of God.

Governor Dickson said his party would begin its campaigns next week and called on the clergy to mobilise their congregants to ensure victory for the PDP standard-bearer, who he assured would continue the good work of his Restoration Government.
The Bayelsa Chief Executive who described the developmental exploits of his administration as a silent revolution, especially in the health care sector education, infrastructure development, security among others, stressed that Bayelsa was in need of a leader like Sen Diri to consolidate on development,
He also expressed appreciation to the clergy for their prayers, support, encouragement, loyalty, solidarity to him and his administration for over seven years.
In remarks Senator Diri thanked Governor Dickson for his thoughtfulness to organise a three-day fasting and prayer session and especially the clergy for their prayers for the right choice to take over from the state governor.
He noted that he has passion for God’s work due to his upbringing and assured that he would key into Governor Dickson’s policy of upholding the gospel while urging them to continue to guide the present administration with prayers, as well as the success of the PDP in the November 16 governorship election.
He said “I don’t know how I emerged as the candidate using my friends, my brothers, my leaders, my Governor, using the political party, PDP, and all the delegates, it can only be God”.

Delivering a sermon, Bishop Hyacinth Egbebo commended Governor Dickson for his landmark achievements in all sectors of the state, saying he has indeed restored the state to its present enviable heights.

He called for peaceful election as well as unity of purpose while praying God to enthrone the right candidate as winner of the election to ensure the continuous progress of the state.
