Outrage in Zamfara as bandits burn mother, infant, 11 others to death

Armed bandits struck in Randa, Dansadau District of Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State and burnt 13 people to death, including a mother and her infant.

The Wazirin Dansadau, Mustapha Umar, confirmed to newsmen a total of 13 dead and five injured.

Over 30 farmers  were also reportedly abducted by the bandits during the night raid.

He said: “The gunmen set houses ablaze, burnt people who were hiding from abduction to death,” the Wazirin said.

According to him, many other captives escaped at midnight while being conveyed into the forest.

He explained that the bandits capitalised on the recent change of security formation in the area to carry out the heinous attack without being challenged.

The traditional ruler faulted the change, saying: “It will be good for the security agents to send a replacement before withdrawing the existing personnel on ground. The absence of the security men gave the attackers a free hand.”

Spokesman  of the  Zamfara Police Command, Mr. Muhammad Shehu, said he had not been briefed on the development.
