The Federal University Otuoke Bayelsa State has suspended its 1st Semester Examinations following protest staged by students of the institution over what they called ‘management’s poor administration’ and closure of course registration portal.
The protest which started, last Friday, resumed in the early hour of Monday, November 1. The students had earlier met with the Dean Students Affairs, Dr. Omoru who, according to the students, asked them to “go and commit suicide”.
It was reported that the students plea with the ice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Teddy Addias, had yielded no positive result.
The students, in their hundreds marched against the university obnoxious policies which has rendered most of their colleagues helpless in pursuing their academic activities.
One of the students who spoke to our reporter in anonymity says the University new management is not friendly with the poor students. He the school is fast becoming “indigenous” University without room for universal principles which academic environment is known for.
The university through its Registrar, Mr. Yousou Donald, issued a memo announcing the suspension of the scheduled examination till later date.
Efforts to reach the University Public Relations unit failed at the time of filling this report.
