Osun: JIFORM seeks speedy medical attention for Trinidad/Tobago returnee

Journalists International for Migration (JIFORM), has called on the Osun State Government and other well-meaning Nigerians regarding the health situation of a returnee from Trinidad and Tobago, Mr. Benjamin Sesan Ojo, that requires urgent medical attention.
JIFORM, which is a frontline advocacy foundation against irregular migration and human trafficking, made the call in a statement issued at weekend after a visit by JIFORM President, Ajibola Abayomi and Yaqoub Popoola a member of the foundation to the Trinidad and Tobago returnee now living in a pitiable condition with deteriorating health condition at Ilesha, his home town.
Ajibola, who commended the wife of Osun State Governor, Mrs. Kafayat Oyetola for facilitating the return of Ojo to Nigeria having been stranded in that country for 12 years however observed that the returnee needs prompt medical attention to prevent avoidable medical crisis of an unimaginable proportion.

“We thank the wife of Osun State Governor, Mrs. Kafayat Oyetola for the wonderful humanitarian gestures and for proving that she is a true caring mother. However, Ojo’s medical situation has been deteriorating since his arrival in Nigeria on February 2, 2020 with a decaying leg, swollen hands and rashes all over his body. We observe that if not attended to on time, he may soon be in a critical condition that can go out of control.
“This is the more reason we are calling on the Osun State government and other well-meaning Nigerians to step in and assist. No matter where he was coming from or his past, we thank Mrs. Oyetola for giving him another opportunity to face the future. But for that future to be certain, the good humanitarian effort should be extended to his treatment and total rehabilitation. On this matter, our dear Osun State government has a duty on its hand to perform in this isolated case under discussion,” the group appealed.
