Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mr. Osita Okechukwu, has backed the decision of Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to pick a former Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, as his running mate.
Tinubu and Shettima are both Muslims, representing the first Muslim-Muslim ticket of a major political Party since the 1993 presidential election.

Reacting to the development, on Sunday, Mr. Okechukwu said the duo was an excellent ticket, and noting that they were both moderate Muslims.
“On the choice of Distinguished Sen. Kashim Shettima as Vice Presidential Candidate; methinks it is an excellent joint ticket.
“An excellent joint ticket because Shettima is a transparent man of action and capable as Asiwaju pointed out.
“He did well as governor of Borno and did a good pick as a successor in the person of Prof. Umara Zulum.
“On the issue of Muslim-Muslim ticket, as a Christian one would have preferred Muslim-Christian ticket; however there was the likely input of Northern Governors.
