Organ harvesting: What we do with victims’ organs, suspects tells police

Four suspects who specialised in kidnapping and harvesting organs of their victims have confessed to the police what they do after harvesting organs of their victims.

Innocent Elebe, Eze Elechi, Obinna Nwanguru and Oda Peter were arrested by the Nigeria Police, Ebonyi Command after the wife of one of their victims Idenyi Chilkezie reported the disappearance of her husband to the police.

While parading the suspects at the Command office, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, said the suspects were arrested after thorough investigations were carried out.

He said on October 11, Blessing Chikezie reported to the command her husband was missing having left home on September 9 for a business trip to Lagos and was yet to come back.

“Command operatives from the anti-kidnapping unit, through a painstaking investigation and credible intelligence, arrested one Innocent Elebe and Eze Elechi; they made useful statements, which led the police to arrest Obinna Nwanguru and Oda Peter,” he said.

On the reason behind the killing, the spokesperson said the suspects confessed to harvesting Idenyi’s organs alongside with other victims to cure a Down Syndrome patient.

“They confessed to killing Chikezie Idenyi, Chibu Odii, and Eze Fabian on different dates while trying to extract their blood/ organs to use them to cure a cognitively impaired person (Down syndrome).

“Operatives of the command have recovered the corpses of Chikezie Idenyi and Chibu Odii, while effort is ongoing to recover the remains of the third victim,” Ukandu stated.

Ukandu further said in October alone, the Command arrested no fewer than 177 suspected criminals, out of which four were alleged to be involved in human organ harvesting and ritual killings.

He further said the suspects were made of 162 males and 15 females and have been charged to court..

“92 suspects among them have been charged to court, while others would be arraigned once investigations are completed.

He noted that the Command has deployed various strategies to combat crimes and ensure a safe and prosperous environment for socio-economic growth in the State.

“The command has employed strategic steps through increased stakeholder engagement to help bring crimes to the barest minimum. Through this approach, we have been able to reduce the incidences of violent crimes, while operatives of the command are not relenting in our efforts to make the state safe for all,” he said.
