Ohanaeze to meet Tinubu over Nnamdi Kanu

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, has conclude plans to meet with President Bola Tinubu with regard to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

The IPOB leader has been in detention for a long time now but Ohanaeze’s planned meeting with Tinubu is to canvass for Kanu’s release from the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS.

Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the Ohanaeze President General,  made the disclosure during a courtesy by the Eze Iheanyichukwu Nwokenna-led Supreme Council of Nigeria Traditional Rulers, Southeast chapter, in Owerri.

Iwuanyanwu said the proposed visit to Tinubu would enable Ohanaeze to discuss all issues, confronting the the South-east geo-political zone as well as move for the release of Kanu from the DSS custody.

He noted the use of Kanu’s name and his incarceration by some unscrupulous and selfish people to perpetrate crimes in the region.

The Ohanaeze chieftain said: “Your request and solidarity visit have reinvigorated my leadership intention to see President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on issues concerning the Igbo ethnic group, more especially the need to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB. His continual detention is escalating insecurity in the South-east.

“After he’s released, let us now see any person or group that will be instigating insecurity or crisis in Igboland using his name or detention.

“Some people and groups are illegally feasting on his popularity and detention just to cause unnecessary trouble and problems in the entire southeast and for their selfish interests. There must be peace and stability in Igboland.

“The immediate release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will restore sanity.”
