Chairman of Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Evangelist Olalekan Ifede, has said that state government would employ no fewer than 5,000 graduates with educational background, so as to impart knowledge into pupils/students across the State to herald new academic momentum.
Ifede made this known while responding at a Television programme anchored in a Yoruba, “Oju Koro” in Ogun State Television (OGTV), Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, the State capital.
Ifede stated that his board on assumption to the office, deviced a strategy to visit schools unexpectedly, based on the dwindling academic standard in the state, noting that the urgency was to revive academic standard, so as to achieve accelerated academic goals .
He added that many schools are deprived of quality and adequate teachers which gave birth to the expedience of employing new teachers, tagged “Ogun teach”, that would impart knowledge for two consecutive years before they could be considered as full staff.
“We have made a unilateral decision to employ teachers with maximum education potentials in order to allow education thrive in the state”, Ifede said
Ifede, however, advised education stakeholders to involve Old Student Associations, Communities, and Parents to execute projects that would advance education in the state, saying that this would assist the Government in its ongoing transformation.
He then commended the present administration for its determination to revive the educational system of the State, which he said is already gaining momentum.
