Ogun police arrest four-man robbery gang, recovers firearms

A four-man armed robbery gang, notorious for terrorising residents of Mowe and Ofada areas, in Ogun State, have been arrested by operatives of the Ogun State Police Command.

The suspects, Sukanmi Tajudeen, Habeeb Oladimeji, Sunday Akintunde, and Ishola Samson, were arrested with two locally made guns, 13 cartridges, and a Bajaj motorcycle. 
According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the command had declared the gang wanted, following the heinous crimes perpetrated by the gang. 
Speaking on how the suspects were arrested, he said that the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) had received intelligence about the hideout of the gang at Adesan area Mowe, hence their arrest. 

“ On getting the report, the officer in-charge of SARS, Tijani Muhammed, a Chief Superintendent of Police, dispatched his operatives to the area and the hideout was professionally cordoned off for an operation which lasted for about an hour.
“ At the end of the operation, the four suspects were apprehended while some members of the gang escaped through nearby bush.
Recovered from them were one locally made triplet-barrel pistol, one local made single-barrel pistol, 30 live cartridges and one Bajaj motorcycle.
“ The  Commissioner of Police,  Kenneth Ebrimson, who praised the gallantry displayed of his men has ordered a serious manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang, he equally ordered a total clamp down on armed bandits across the State in order to give the good people of the gateway state the needed rest of mind, ” he said.
