Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, has said that the Assembly, under his leadership, would review some laws made during the administration of a former governor of the state, Ibikunle Amosun.
Oluomo said this during an interview with journalists, in Abeokuta, the state capital.
He said the Assembly would review the laws made at the instance of the former governor.
He listed such laws to include the State Security Trust Fund law, Anti-Land Grabbing and Related Offences law, and the So Safe Corps law, among others.

He said the laws would be reviewed with a view to tackling insecurity and ensuring socio-economic development of the state.
Oluomo also made a case for part-time lawmakers at the level of state Houses of Assembly.
He said the essence of democracy was to allow people’s participation, adding that the assembly was poised to be people-centered in all its activities. He said it was through the aggregation of views and opinions of the people from different strata of the society that the legislative arm would help to set agenda for government to meet the yearnings of the people.
According to him, the Assembly would, before the commencement of its legislative business, harness the expertise of civil societies, professional bodies, trade associations and other stakeholders.
For good governance to take its roots in the nation, the people must know their right, avoid vote selling and be ready to hold their leaders accountable,” he said.
