The Board of Directors of Odu’a Investment Group has commended Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his administration’s support in repositioning the group and seeks more partnership with the state.
The board through its Chairman, Bimbo Ashiru gave the commendation when it paid a courtesy call on the governor on Monday at the Lagos House, Ikeja.
Ashiru said the call was to introduce the new Group Managing Director, GMD as well as new directors of the group to the governor as one of the governors of the South West states that owns the group.
He said since Lagos State joined Odu’a Group six years ago, it has contributed to the progress of the conglomerate, adding that the group has now opened a Lagos Liaison office.
“When Lagos State joined Odu’a Group,we knew we are in the hands of the fifth largest economy in Africa.We decided we must have a Lagos Liaison office. We are happy you are part of us.”
Ashiru further said the new directors who were chosen by all the South West governors are ‘people with good track records.’
He mentioned some of the achievements of the group to include the renovation of the Premier Hotel, Ibadan which he said have been increased from 87 rooms to 154,adding that the group is also constructing a 40 apartments estate at the GRA, Ikeja.
Ashiru commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for infrastructural development in the state in transport among other projects, and sought for more partnership with the state.
“You are doing well in infrastructure. Our focus is to be a world class conglomerate. We are trying our best, we will not disappoint you. We believe our partnership with Lagos State will bring more success to the group.
In his response, Governor Sanwo-Olu commended Ashiru for his leadership role in repositioning the group.
“Odu’a Group is a group that brings memories to the South West. We are proud of what you have done. We know that each of you have distinguished yourself in your career. We believe Oodua Group will be able to compete with other international companies,” Sanwo-Olu said.
The governor further expressed confidence that the board will take the group ‘to enviable heights.’
Hw promised that Lagos State would continue to help the group to achieve it’s vision.
” We believe you will.make the right decisions. We are ready to help you realize the vision you have for the group. As a state, we are happy we have made the right decisions. See us as a willing partner,” the governor said.
Sanwo-Olu called on other South West governors to work together to strengthen the region.
“As South West governors, we should strengthen our collaborative efforts. There is nothing stopping us from copying each other. Whatever you need to do well, we will make it available.”
