Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi (OJAJA II), have urged the Olota of Ota, Oba Adeyemi Obalanlege, to unite all parts of Awori kingdom.
If the Olota hearkens to the voice of wisdom, Obasanjo and the Ooni believed development would reign in his community.
Obasanjo, at the 55th birthday of Obalanlege, on Saturday, said he could attest to the development recorded within the community since the emergence of the king.
According to Obasanjo, “What you told me when you became the king was that you want Ota town to develop, and you want me to be part of it, which I gave you my assurance that very soon, whoever visits Nigeria without coming to Ota Kingdom, he only visits a village.

“I really want to thank you and God for something that you have been doing; that is the unity necessary for peace, security, solidarity, development, growth, and progress of Ota.
“I keep telling people that resources to develop any part of our country will not be lacking if we get it right because the resources are out there looking for where to invest, but it won’t go to where it is not wanted.
“It is our own responsibility to create an environment conducive for investment to find us out.”
The Ooni of Ife also called for the unity of the Awori people, saying it was the only thing that would bring development to the community.

Oba Ogunwusi said he had been following Obalanlege since he became the Olota of Ota.
In his response, Oba Obalalenge said, “It is a milestone in my life and I want to thank God for sparing my life. I pray to Him to continue sparing my life so as to continue leading my people.
“The point is that we have to continue to add value; for me, it is a call to service as the Olota of Ota, and I have to continue to serve my people by ensuring development within Ota and its environs.”
