NYSC mobilises 103,000 for orientation exercise

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has declared the start of the 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream Two Orientation Course.

Set to begin nationwide, on Wednesday, the programme has successfully registered a staggering number of 103,000 Prospective Corps Members (PCMs).

The orientation course is a pivotal tradition in Nigeria, aiming to equip freshly graduated youths with the skills and mindset required for national service and integration.

In a statement on Monday night by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, the NYSC Management highlighted the importance of this exercise in fostering unity and development across the country.

Due to the significant turnout of registrants this year, NYSC officials have adopted a strategic approach to mobilize PCMs in Batches and Streams.

This move ensures that the orientation camps can provide a modest and conducive environment that is essential for the smooth running of the programme.

“Mobilizing PCMs in Batches will not only decongest the camps but also maintain optimal health conditions for all participants”, Megwa stated.

Furthermore, the Management addressed those who are registered but have not been called up for the upcoming exercise.

“Prospective Corps Members who are not part of the 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream Two should anticipate their call-up letters for the June 2024 Orientation Exercise”, Megwa assured.

The Director General of NYSC, Brigadier General YD Ahmed extended his best wishes to all PCMs embarking on this journey.

“We wish all Prospective Corps Members a safe trip to their respective Orientation Camps across the country”, he stated, underscoring the importance of this transition in their lives.

In an era where digital platforms are becoming increasingly crucial for communication, PCMs and the general public are advised to stay informed through the NYSC’s Social Media Handles and other traditional media outlets for all updates pertaining to the Orientation Course.
