Charles Nwankwo – Abakaliki
The former Chairman of PDP Ebonyi State and the current Commissioner for Abakaliki Capital Territory Hon. Onyekachi Nwebonyi has declared his intention to contest for Ebonyi North Senatorial Zone in 2023 general election under the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC).
Briefing newsmen in APC office at Akanu Ibiam International Conference Center Abakaliki, Hon. Nwebonyi said he will protect the interest of the party and attract the dividend of democracy to his constituent and the entire Ebonyi State if elected.
He urged the person occupying the position now to stop contesting for third term and give way for younger people to contribute for the development of the country, adding that people are clamoring for younger people because they deliver better in every assignment.

Hon. Nwebonyi promised his constituent good roads, youth empowerment, job creation and charity if elected.
“I am here to consult the party and express my intention to contest for Ebonyi North Senatorial Zone come 2023 general election, being a party man I will protect the interest of the party, I will be loyal to the party, I will attract democracy dividend to my party not just within my zone but the entire Ebonyi state.
“You can score me as party chairman and as Commissioner I have touched lives. I will be commissioning the 40th buildings which I built for poor people in my area, I have given 398 motorcycles to people, I have given scholarship to many students, I am the first government appointee that gave vehicles to party officers in my local government. I am convinced beyond doubt that party will listen to me just as they listened to other aspirants but at the end they will come out with the best.
“With all sincerity, the person occupying Ebonyi North Senatorial Zone now shouldn’t be contesting for that position again. God has blessed him let God bless another person. All Nigerians are clamoring for younger people because in every assignment people always deliver better, if you look at the cream of Governors coming up, 80% are young men and I believe that my own is not going to be different, if am at the Senate and my brother Ogbonnaya Nwifuru as a Governor you can think of what will happen the youth will work for themselves we have been working for elders. I assured my constituent good roads, youth empowerment, job creation and charity” he said.
The Chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC) Ebonyi State, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha advised all the aspirants to contest with every sense of love, stating that at the end the house will send the best to represent the people and the party.
Hon. Okoro said the person occupying the position now might be making mistakes for him to contesting for third term while younger people have declared their intentions to contest.
Nigerian Xpress learnt that Senator Sam Egwu who is currently representing Ebonyi North Senatorial Zone in Abuja from Ezzamgbo in Ohaukwu LGA had earlier been adopted by a group from Izzi known as G-35 to contest for third term under the platform of PDP as a senator representing the zone.
