The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Plateau State Council has charged the newly appointed Secretary to the Government of Plateau State and the chief of staff to the governor to live up to the expectations of their offices.
A statement by the NUJ chairman Paul Jatau and Secretary of the council Peter Amine on Friday however said the appointments are well deserved.
“Your appointments by the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Rt Hon. (Dr) Simon Bako Lalong to serve as members of the State Executive Council did not come to us a surprise but a reward for your industry and commitment to service to humanity.”
The NUJ press release also stated that “we are confident that your appointment will open new vistas of opportunities for the development of Plateau.”
It will be recalled that the governor of Plateau state Barr Simon Lalong, had on Thursday announced the appointment of two new key officers of his cabinet.
Governor Lalong appointed Prof. Danladi Abok Atu, as the Secretary to the Government of Plateau State.
The announcement of the appoinment was made through the Director of press and public affairs Dr. Makut Simon Macham; who was also appointed recently.
The appointment of the Plateau state government scribe and the governor’s chief of Staff is the second appointment made by governor Simon Lalong since his re-election into office on 29th May 2019.
The press release also announced the appointment of the governor’s Chief of Staff, he is Noel K. Donjur.
Mr. Donjur was a former Commisioner for Works and current member of the Plateau state economic council.

According to the statement, the new SSG until his elevations to his new status, was the Director, Institute for Peace and Social Rehabilitation, University of Abuja.
Meanwhile, a former appointee of governor Lalong Hon Sati Tanko, a former Special Adviser to governor in a telephone interview said the appointment is in the best interest of the state.
“The next level agenda is to inject new blood into the system, therefore, the appointments is the best thing the governor Lalong have done.”
Hon Sati also said the new SSG have been a political power broker, a politican of high repute in the state.
“Prof Atu is a technocrats, he was a council chairman of Jos North, an academician, and had also contested governorship seat, so his appointment is well deserved.” Hon Sati noted.
Hon Sati called on former government appointees who might not be re-appointed in the second tenure of Lalong to support the new appointees and the entire administration to succeed.
