Grief has enveloped the entire Nsu community in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area, Imo State, following the death of Chief (Sir) Jonah Chukwudoro Nwajiuba, one of its finest elders.
The late Nwajiuba died on July 11, 2023, at the ripe age of 91 years and shall be buried on Thursday, July 20, 2023.
The deceased was the father of distinguished children, including the former vice chancellor of Alex Ekwueme Federal Universty Ndufu Ikwo, AE-FUNAI, Ebonyi State, Prof Chinedum Nwajiuba, and the immediate past Minister of State for education, Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba HCN.
Funeral arrangements as announced on behalf of the family by Prof Nwajiuba stated that there was an evening song and reception at Eziokwu Bu Ndu Square, Umuehie, in Umuezeala Autonomous Community in Ehime Mbano, Imo State by 4pm on Sunday, July 16, 2023. This was repeated on Monday at all Saints’ Church, Umuezeala Nsu.
On Tuesday, July 18, there shall be Service of Praise and Worship at the chapel near Prof Nwajiuba’s house by 5pm, to be followed by Service of Songs on Wednesday evening at JC Nwajiuba’s compound.

Funeral service holds at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, Umuezeala Nsu, by 10am on Thursday, July 20, 2023. Interment follows thereafter.
The late Sir Nwajuiba was a community leader par excellence and impacted several lives in his town, Nsu and left indelible footprints on the sands of history.
This much was captured in a letter of condolence to the Nwajiuba dynasty the Nsu-Community Elite Congress, NEC, the community’s influential think tank.
The letter, which was signed by the elite group’s president, Basil Ojukwu, and General Secretary, Dr. Patrick Okorie, read in part: “Your father will always be remembered as a kind person and a man of peace. He optimised his position as a community leader and knight of the church, which he used to serve his people and community at large.
“Your father’s numerous contributions to the economic development of Nsu, especially the establishment of Nsu Microfinance Bank Ltd. in the 90s is one of the indelible achievements Nsu indigenes will remember him for always.
“Ndi Nsu shall also always remember his role as the Vice Chairman of Nsu Development Union, NDU, in the period the Nsu Comprehensive High School, Umuanunu Nsu was built. He was the chairman of the building committee then.”
The deceased was survived by his children, many relations and so many friends.
