No going back on agitation – Yoruba in Diaspora back Sunday Igboho

Some Yoruba in the Diaspora, under the aegis of Yoruba One Voice (YOV), have urged Chief Sunday Adeyemo, otherwise called Sunday Igboho and other Yoruba people across the world not to relent in the campaign for self-determination for the Yoruba nation.

According to a statement issued, on Sunday, the group made the remark in a communique issued at the end of a webinar conference.

The group also revealed that agitation for Yoruba Nation is entrenched in Article 1 of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the African Charter on People’s Right, urging agitators to continue the movement despite threats from the Federal Government.

“With the success recorded today, YOV had made history, as the largest Yoruba diaspora organisation seeking the Yoruba nation self-determination agenda. And with this, I have the conviction that we will definitely achieve this lofty dream.

“We urge Yoruba people all over the world not to relent in the irrevocable campaign for Self Determination for Yoruba people.

“That the Yoruba Nation resolve to forge ahead with renewed zeal for the Right to Self Determination as entrenched in Article 1 of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the African Charter on People’s Right.

“Immediate referendum to be supervised by the United Nations on the right to self-determination by the Yoruba Nation,” YOV said.

Recall that Sunday Igboho and others had held several rallies in some Southwestern States as part of the movement for the actualisation of Oduduwa Republic as a sovereign state for the Yoruba nation.

But the Federal Government recently clamped down on the agitators as officers of the Department of State Services, DSS invaded Igboho’s residence in Ibadan the Oyo State capital.

The officials of the secret police gunned down two of Igboho’s allies, while others were taken to the DSS custody.
