NIS matriculates 110  students

A total of 110 students have been officially admitted into various courses at the National Institute For Sports ( NIS) for the 2019/ 2020 academic session. 
The matriculation took place at the conference hall of the institute, National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
A break down of the new intakes, indicates  that 82 students were admitted for Advanced Coaching Certificate; 12 for Diploma in Coaching, 8  for one  year Higher Diploma in Coaching, 1 for two years Higher Diploma in Coaching and 7 for two years Higher Diploma in Sports Management.
Speaking at the occasion, Director/ CEO of the institute, Dr. Eke Kingdom Chukwudi, said the occasion marks another milestone in the institute’s commitment to providing quality education and training of coaches.
The Director whi!e admonishing the students to be disciplined and take their studies serious,promised them that the management is putting logistics on ground to make their stay  in the institute a memorable one.

“You should count yourselves lucky to be admitted to the school that has produced great coaches like Amodu Shuaibu, Yemi Tella, Fanny Amu and Chioma Ajunwa amongsts others. It is also important to acknowledge your maturity and discipline since resumption and I urge you to continue in that spirit and channel any complain through the appropriate channels instead of resorting to “self help”.
The Director noted  that as part of efforts to make  life conducive for the students, renovation work is going on in the hostels while an ambulance and staff bus has been procured by the management just as he announced that efforts are being made to accredit courses of the institute by the National Board For Technical Education ( NBTE).
“ As you are all aware, the institute recently successfully organised the combined 7th convocation ceremony and Silver Jubilee celebration of its existence. It is also worthy of note that National Institute For Sports is working assiduously on accreditation of her  programmes by the National Board For Technical Education to ensure that our graduates are accorded due recognition and appropriate job placement in public and private sector,” he concluded.
