Head Coach of the National Female Cricket team, John Harry, has expressed confidence in the players ability to top their group at the International Cricket Confederation (ICC) qualifiers in Zimbabwe.
Harry said in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Kaduna State, that Nigeria would qualify for the female World Cup in 2020.
“We are training hard to see that the girls top their group and qualify for the World Cup in 2020 in Zimbabwe.
“We have been in camp for the past two weeks and I am happy with the level of their performance so far.
“Though, our group is very tough, but we are sure of qualifying. We are only scared of the host country.
“We will play our normal game bearing in mind that pressure is part of the game and they are the only threat that we see in the group,’’ he said.
According to him, the girls have been engaged in friendly matches with their male counterparts to strengthen the squad ahead of the tournament.

“We have been playing friendly matches with the boys and will continue with the matches for them to face opponents without fear.
“We choose to be playing with the boys so that when they go for the competition, it will be easier for them to win as well as see their opponents like men.”
NAN reports that the camp will be closing on May 2, while the team will depart for the competition proper on May 3.
The Head Coach commended the board of Nigeria Cricket Federation for making sure that female teams were not left behind in the country.
