Outgoing Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has become the butt of jokes from Nigerians online, who have continued to troll him over his defeat at the polls. Saraki lost the Kwara Central Senatorial District seat to the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr. Ibrahim Oloriegbe, in what election observers described as a major upset.
Oloriegbe polled 123, 808 votes to defeat the Senate President who scored 68, 994 votes in the four local government areas of the Kwara Central Senatorial District. This result has sent social media into a frenzy.
According to Ekwuoma Idumute Umu-ugbede, it was simply payback time for Saraki.

“Kwara people took this time out to pay him back for all the slavery he had taken them through. In this life, there is nothing without end – hence, we should treat everyone well and not let power go into our heads. What comes around, goes around. In life, the same people you meet while climbing up – those are the same people who’ll be there when you are coming down. Saraki’s political career has come to an end,” he wrote.
Similarly, another user simply identified, as Arewa Better said Saraki reaped the result of being too over-ambitious and over-confident.
“Being over-confident and over-ambitious is like walking the thin red line, on a path between self-fulfillment and self-destruction. The latter happened to Mr. Saraki. He’s also paying the prize for challenging the elderly, including his father for doing the right things to move Nigeria forward. Anyway, the person, who came up with the slogan “O to ge” [It is enough] in Kwara State is a genius and deserves a Nobel Prize” he wrote.
On his part, another user identified as Dr. Alomo said the powerful hold of Saraki in Kwara is gone.
“The powerful hold of Saraki now gone! Political calculations have failed. Politics without substance and abuse of political office is a major mistake” he wrote.
