Nigerians have carpeted President Muhammadu Buhari for purchasing N1.4 billion worth of vehicles for neighbouring Niger Republic in spite of insecurity facing Nigeria.
It is recalled that the Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, on Wednesday disclosed to State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council meeting that the federal government purchased the vehicles to help the government of Niger Republic fight insecurities.
Ahmed had claimed that providing intervention to the neighboring Niger Republic is not new and is within the prerogative of President Buhari to approve the purchase, adding the request was made by Nigerien government.
However the decision has not gone well with Nigerians as they lambasted the President for assisting a neighbouring country while doing little to solve the security challenges Nigeria is facing.
Nwodo Innocent, in his reaction said:” Whether they buy or not the money has been marked siphoning. So what do you want me to say?
Rowland Eugene said “And some people will tell me to vote for Tinubu for continuity of Buhari’s legacies! Samuel Nyam reacted: “End of Buhari’s tenure will be the happiest thing in our lives in a decade. Looting spree !
Angela Tom: “There was once a country called NIGERIA. I weep for my Nation.
Fidelia Chimezie reacted “But our soldiers lack good fire arms to combat insurgents in our country. Oya kwantinua. He had just proved that he is not a Nigerian.
Lynda Onyeabor said :”Kai! We dey soup for this country like this o.
Fatima Akintunde simply said “Funny government.”
Effia Henry:” When will Buhari’s tenure end please? Enough of this nonsense. Why purchase vehicles worth 1.4 billion for another country while yours is barely surviving on borrowing, your security architecture is degrading because of low level of security equipment and your high institutions of learning are currently shut down due to lack of funding.
