It was a mixed bag of fortune, on Sunday, when gallant Nigerian soldiers worsted members of the Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province but ended up losing six soldiers in an ambush by the terrorists.
According to the Nigerian Army Operations Media Coordinator, Col. Aminu Iliyasu, troops of Operation Lafiya Dole dealt heavy blow on the Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province terrorists in the North-east.
He disclosed in a statement that the Nigerian Army has been unswerving in its resolve to deal with the terrorists and sustain earlier victories in Damboa in Borno State and Garkida town in Adamawa State.

The army coordinator said the serial defeats suffered by the insurgents had further widened the cracks and infighting among members of the sect and its rival faction.
Meanwhile, there were unconfirmed reports that some suspected members of the Boko Haram yesterday reportedly ambushed Nigerian troops in Banki area of Borno State, leading to the death of six soldiers.
The victims, including two sergeants, two lance corporals and two privates, were said to be members of the 151 Task Force battalion.
However, the army spokesman, Sagir Musa, could not confirm the information.
Valliant Nigerian soldiers have consistently inflicted maximum damage on the Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgents whose terrorist campaign has led to the death of tens of thousands of people with attendant collateral disruptions of business and families.
