Top U.S.-based Taekwondo athlete, Sohwon Kim, arrived in Abuja Monday ahead of the Nigeria International Taekwondo Open slated for February 8 to February 9.
Chika Chukwumerije, the Technical Director, Nigeria Taekwondo Federation (NTF), who confirmed Kim’s arrival to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) said all was set for the event.

According to him, Kim, a top ranked athlete in the male 68kg, arrived in Abuja ahead of the Nigeria for the international competition aboard Egypt Air.
Chukwumerije quoted Kim as saying that “winning gold in Nigeria Open will help him to make the world championships team.”
He said this was a criteria in America.
“Whoever accumulates the most G-ranking points by March 31, will be the world championships team member,” Kim said.
10 countries had so far indicated interest of participating in the 2019 Nigeria International Taekwondo open holding at the Abuja Stadium. (NAN)
