Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu of Lagos State who was, on Monday morning, declared winner of the governorship election in the state has extended hands of fellowship to his rivals, and declared ‘no victor, no vanquished’ in the just concluded election.
The governor spoke at the State House, Marina, while addressing the press immediately he was declared winner by INEC.
According to him, Lagos is open to Nigerians from any part of the state, and urged Lagosians not to allow religion and ethnicity to divide them.
He added his re-election was a confirmation that the mandate given to him and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, four years have now been renewed.
The governor thanked all Lagosians for voting for ‘competence and experience’ adding there is more work to be done to achieve a greater Lagos.
“Our commitment is that Lagos will further work for all of us. Femi and I will ensure all our promises happen. I want to thank all of you no matter the divide you belong to. We have seen divisive tendencies but we need to come together. Religion and ethnicity will not divide us. What unite us is more important than what divides us.

“Election is over, governance will continue. We will keep our promises to you. Our hands are open to everyone,” he said.
To his rivals, the governor thanked them for contesting against him.
“We are extending hands of fellowship to you. No victor, no vanquished,” he declared.
