Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has won election to his second term of another four years in Kwara State.
Announcing the final results of the governorship poll, the INEC State Returning Officer, Prof. lsaac Itodo, Vice Chancellor of the University of Agriculture, Markurdi, Benue State, said AbdulRazaq and his Party polled 273,424 votes to emerge winner.
He beat his closest contender, Alhaji Abdullahi Yamah of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 155,490 votes and the second runner-up, while Mallam Akeem Lawal of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) that polled 18,922 votes.
Prof. Itodo said 460,4970 votes cast were valid, while 10, 274 votes were rejected bringing the total number of votes cast to 470,771 in the Saturday guber election.
The Returning Officer, therefore, declared AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as duly returned and elected in the polls exercise.
The governor won in all the 16 Local Government Areas of the state.
INEC had, on Saturday night, started announcement of the governorship election results with only that of three Local Government Areas of Ekiti, Isin and Offa which the governor eventually won at the resumed announcement of the election results that lasted from Sunday morning till evening.
